finally a multiplayer that's not pay2win or pay2play lol.

on the bad side, the multiplayer system is really slow..

still, you dont need to spend 1 day to level up or get good gear

9/10 for me.

what do you people think?

I initially started building everyone balanced in terms of stats, with one person going down the dual-wield skill path and two people taking Power Hit and various other stuff on that path, one with a 2-handed weapon and one with a shield. This worked well enough; I can beat bots of my level fairly easily, so I think it succeeded.

Earlier tonight, I went back to Londinium and bought another guy (because the people in Syracuse are REALLY OVERPRICED) and leveled him up to 17 over the course of about an hour. It's funny because he's ten levels behind my starter guys and yet hits just as hard as them AND has twice their defense. The dualwielder baits the enemy attacks to give my new guy and his speed rating of 4 time to shield bash and get those beautiful 3-4 turns of blocking over half of the attacks he receives. The shields I run on my main and my newb both have very high damage values, so I can keep my offense up when I have to reset the block. My dualwielder usually drops by turn 3 or 4, leaving the enemies to waste what's left of their offense (because I've also crippled one or two of their guys by that point) on my brick wall of a level 17 while my main runs Power Attacks to finish off what's left of them.

What's next on my list? My main's getting morale boost abilities once I finish maxing his dexterity skill. He has a bad habit of constantly being the least-targeted out of everyone in my group, so I'm building him to be consistently useful to make the most of all that time the AI gives me with him. My brick wall is just going to keep becoming more of a brick wall with the defensive skills. Those, plus the spear allowing him to drop to the back row and spam Throw if hell freezes over and he starts bleeding somewhere, are going to make him a pain in the butt later on, especially when that counterattack skill kicks in. My dualwielder is going to go all the way to the 4x-hit skill and I'll see how good that is. If it isn't, then I'll probably put my heavy hitter back in the lineup and have fun taking out close to 300 points worth of armor per attack again.

The strategy itself is very simplistic: Find the weakness (arms for 2H-wielders, legs for dualwielders, left arm for polearms because Throw has a stupidly high chance to crit, right arm for shield bashers because they're annoying as ****) and hit it with everything you have. Once that's down, move on to the next guy in the lineup until you've crippled everyone, then spam block and wait for them to bleed out.

This strategy is bound to change once I get into the late-game areas and start having to deal with healers and whatnot, but for the first half of the game, it works great.

I'd give the game a 8.5/10. I just wish there were ways to get better metals in singleplayer; other than the one silver from liking Berzerk on FB and the bronzes from achievements, I can't find any metals from singleplayer. If those are rewards for multiplayer wins, I guess it isn't a big deal, but I'd honestly like to be able to earn them in 1p as well...

The slave market costs loads of money and I got kinda bored sometimes because I didn't have many skills but I still loved the game.
I will go back and complete it soon.

SP is a lot of fun, but MP sucks. It's too hard to find adequate opponents - if you're better they won't play so either you lose or you play only against those with less patience. I've tried for an hour and with my combined level of 130 I played once against 150, 145, 38 and 2. I fail to see the point.

This game is really cool. Berzerk Studio... Best dev's ever :P

At start, I made a team balanced composed of one guy playing shield to protect the other ones (awesome skill, if you have counter attack it's very annoying). An other guy two weapons wielder and the third one is a 2-handed weapon playing Smash.

I'm actually around level 50 and I can tell that Smasher is pretty useless. I have reset him to make an other 2 weapons wielder. Actually I play 5-6 turns before the other team start to play. That means they start to play with only one guy usually...
I think I will reset the shield guy to make an other 2 weapons wielder.

Blitzkrieg > Everything

The multiplayer is cool. It would be better if there were more people. So less matches would be taht unfair.

Anyway I rated it 9.5/10

It's a good game, but multiplayer could be better. It's probably the only gladiator game on AG.

@KrissKhan: how much Speed do your guys have? Mine are around 120 (level 43) and the contender-fights in Rome pretty much always start with the other guys. In addition I lack the Dexterity to hit them and have no points invested in Defense.^^

@KrissKhan: how much Speed do your guys have? Even with 220 I only get a single round before the opponents destroy me (and it leaves only 30 Strength so I can hardly do anything in that round :S)

they should put a max on the reset like 15k is the top and after that you always pay 15k to reset and respec your characters

I only wish you could customize the slaves you buy like you do with your initial character. It would make for some more fun names too.

I wish there was more discussion about this game.

I feel the same way. No matter how high the speed, it seems that you will never get two or more turns in a row.

I could be wrong about this, but defense is going to be a useless state if your character is designed to do damage and doesn't carry a shield.

Right now, my team consists of two dual weapon wielders, with high strength and one two handed weapon wielder that is balanced. The skill I'm interested in for the dual wielders is the 4x strike. Right now one of my dual wielders can cause about 1200 damage with just one 4x strike.

I don't know if that's the best team to have, but I'm still toying around with different builds and skills. However the game only allows for some limited strategy.
